Most "master these 100 shortcuts" lists are exhausting and mostly forgettable. A small set actually earns a permanent spot in muscle memory because you'll reach for them dozens of times a day.
Ctrl/Cmd + Backspace — delete the whole previous word, not just one character.Ctrl/Cmd + Left/Right Arrow — jump by word instead of by character.Shift + Home/End — select from the cursor to the start or end of the line.Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + T — reopen the last closed tab (works multiple times in a row).Alt/Cmd + Tab, then hold — cycle through open windows without releasing the modifier key.Ctrl/Cmd + W vs Ctrl/Cmd + Q — know the difference before you accidentally quit the whole app instead of closing one tab.Spotlight on Mac (Cmd + Space) or the Start menu search on Windows (Win, then type) replaces hunting through folders or a dock entirely. Type the first few letters of an app's name and hit Enter — it's faster than any icon click.
Ctrl + R — reverse search through command history; start typing and it finds the last matching command.Ctrl + A / Ctrl + E — jump to the start or end of the current line.!! — re-run the last command (useful with sudo !! when you forgot permissions).
